The Museum of Funeral Culture
The local people call this museum the Museum of Death: it is the only museum of its kind in Russia. It is not the kind of museum you would expect to see in a metropolis: even though it has become a popular destination, it is also controversial and leaves its visitors with mixed feelings. There is one thing people can agree on, its cultural significance. The museum contains the most diverse information about burialrituals of different peoples, mourning costumes, photographs, prints, paintings and sculptures. Guided tours on the theme and meaning of death and burial rites in different countries and different eras are offered. Since its opening three years ago, the Museum has become a significant inter-regional tourist destination.
The Monuments
Novosibirsk can be called the capital of the monuments of the country, among which there is a monument to the sausage, to traffic lights, to the market saleswoman, to the toast "Kiss!", to the first date, to Koshchei the Immortal and to the Zmey Gorynych (Gorynych the Dragon).
